Home Remedies for Fast Flu Relief

Need fast flu relief? Most of these remedies have been used to treat flu symptoms for generations, and may help ease your symptoms as your body fights the flu virus.
Also, it's a good idea to call your doctor at the first signs of flu -- widespread body aches and a fever over 102 degrees Fahrenheit. If taken within 48 hours of the onset of flu symptoms, flu medications may be able to shorten the duration of the flu.

Flu Symptoms: Stuffy Sinuses

Try these tips to ease stuffy sinuses and breathe easier:
  • Breathe aromatic steam: Fill the bathroom or kitchen sink with steaming water, and add two teaspoons chopped fresh ginger (Zingiber officinalis). Drape a towel over your head and lean over the steam to get maximum benefit. Or add one teaspoon of the over-the-counter ointment Vicks VapoRub® to the steaming water, then breathe in the steam for several minutes until you get relief. Another flu remedy is to add a few drops of oil of eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) or menthol to the water. Eucalyptus is known to open up bronchial tubes, ease congestion, and make breathing easier.
  • Take a warm shower: Getting in a warm shower with the bathroom door closed works as your own personal sauna. The steamy bathroom helps to open your airways and moisten and thin the mucus in your sinuses.
  • Increase liquids: Stay well-hydrated by drinking at least 8 cups (64 ounces) of water each day. Water keeps your respiratory system hydrated, which helps to liquefy thick mucus that builds up with a respiratory infection. Some findings show that hot liquids may be superior to cold liquids in upper respiratory infections. Other liquids can be added, but avoid coffee, tea with caffeine, or alcoholic beverages as these liquids may cause dehydration.
  • Use moist heat compresses: If your head is throbbing and it's difficult to breathe through your nose, you may find relief by applying warm moist compresses to the cheeks and sinuses. If you use moist heat, make sure it's not too hot to avoid burning yourself.
  • Try nasal saline irrigation or saline sprays: A host of scientific studies support nasal saline irrigation as an effective flu remedy to thin mucus, decrease postnasal drip, and add moisture to dried mucous membranes. In addition, the nasal rinse helps to remove virus particles and bacteria from your nose. Saline (salt water) nasal sprays can be purchased at any drug or grocery store and are effective, safe and nonirritating, even for children. Spray the saline solution into one nostril and then gently blow the mucus and saline out of that nostril. Repeat the process in the opposite nostril until both are running clear.
  • Consider decongestant nasal sprays: If you want immediate relief for a swollen, congested nasal passage, decongestant nasal sprays such as Afrin and Neo-Synephrine may be helpful. Decongestant nasal sprays are safe to use, but it's important to stop the spray after three days to avoid the development of rebound congestion (congestion that worsens when you stop the spray). This warning is on the bottle of most over-the-counter decongestant sprays.

Nasal Saline Irrigation Tips

Here's a popular nasal irrigation recipe that you can try at home:
  1. Mix 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in 8 ounces of warm water.
  2. Use a bulb syringe to squirt water into the nose.
  3. Learning over the bathroom sink, hold one nostril closed by applying light finger pressure while squirting the salt mixture into the other nostril. Let it drain and gently blow your nose.
  4. Repeat 2-3 times and then treat the other nostril.
You can also use a Neti Pot for nasal saline irrigation. A Neti pot is a ceramic container that looks like a genie's magic lamp and is available at most natural foods stores.
  1. Fill the Neti pot with the saline solution (see recipe above).
  2. Leaning over the bathroom sink, tilt your head to one side and pour the solution directly into one nostril with the Neti pot.
  3. The solution will go into your nasal cavity and run out the other nostril and the back of your throat.
  4. Spit out the drainage, and gently blow your nose to clear your nasal passages.
According to the CDC, if you are irrigating, flushing, or rinsing your sinuses, use distilled, sterile or previously boiled water to make up the irrigation solution. It’s also important to rinse the irrigation device after each use and leave open to air dry.

Flu Symptom: Cough Relief

Here are tips to ease a nagging cough:
  • Cough syrup: Try an over-the-counter cough syrup to calm a cough with flu. You can select from a cough suppressant, expectorant (guaifenesin), or topical medicine (a menthol rub for the chest). If you have asthma or other lung disease, avoid suppressing your cough. Talk to your doctor to see what might be helpful in your situation. Over-the-counter cough and cold medicines should not be given to children under 4.
  • Cough drops: Keep sugar-free cough drops or hard candy nearby to calm a tickle in your throat. In addition, a teaspoon of honey might also help calm an irritated throat.

Flu Symptoms: Scratchy Throat and Congestion

Here are some tips to soothe a scratchy throat and chest congestion:
  • Eat hot chicken soup: If the flu has taken its toll on your throat, and it's hard to swallow without grimacing, sip some hot chicken soup. Hot chicken soup is a potent mucus stimulant, especially when it's loaded with pepper, garlic, hot curry powder, or other pungent spice that helps to thin mucus in the mouth, throat, and lungs. Studies have shown that hot chicken soup improves the function of cilia, the tiny hair like projections in the nasal passages that protect the body from foreign bacteria and viruses. Steaming chicken soup may also improve the motion of disease-fighting white blood cells.
  • Add spice to your meal: Garlic appears to have antimicrobial and immune-stimulating properties and may give relief of upper respiratory congestion with cold or flu. Ginger also stimulates nerves that lead to mucus production. Ginger appears to have an antioxidant effect, as well as an anti-inflammatory effect, and stimulates the production of interferon that helps fight viral infections. Chili peppers are a great source of capsaicin, an antioxidant that also acts as a natural decongestant and expectorant. Horseradish contains a chemical similar to one found in decongestants.
  • Try an expectorant: With a cold or flu, it's important to keep mucus thin so it doesn't stagnate and allow bacteria to breed, thus, increasing the chances of infection. Try an over-the-counter expectorant such as guaifenesin, which is found in cough products such as Robitussin and Mucinex. Remember that over-the-counter cough and cold medicines should not be given to children under 4. Follow the directions on the label.

Yoga for Sleep

By Beth Irvine, Health Guide

Not just a "trend"
Yoga's roots extend over 5,000 years. According to Yoga Journal 11 million Americans practice yoga, and as a former yoga teacher (and who has practiced daily for the past thirteen years), I can confidently tell my readers⎯ this pose works wonders.

Legs-up-the-Wall-Pose
The Sanskrit (ancient Indian text) word for this pose is "viparita karani asana" (vip-par-ee-tah car-AHN-ee) which translates to viparita = inverted, karani = action, asana= pose

What are the benefits?

This pose is a tried and true position to help with creating a restful sleep. Other reasons I love it: it can relieve tired or cramped legs and feet, gently stretch the back of my legs and neck, and for me (the best part being) it calms my mind. It aids as a beautiful and natural sleep remedy.

How to do it:
Follow these instructions for "Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose":
1.    Fold and stack 2 thick blankets (or a bolster), creating a support that is about 6 inches away from the wall and long enough to prop your hips and lower back.
2.    Place the blankets a few inches away from the wall.
3.    Curl your legs into the chest and turn onto your left side. Use your left arm as a support, and then roll onto your right hip while sweeping your legs up against the wall.
4.    Place your back and hips on the blanket. Your body should be in a straight line from navel to top of head and it should be perpendicular to the wall. The bolster or blankets should be supporting from the top of your tailbone all the way to your mid-back.
5.    Try a soothing eye bag over your eyes and begin to focus on your breath. Allow your breath to relax your body as you settle into the position.
6.    Stay here for up to 20 minutes, or as long as it feels good. Just remember to continue to breath into your belly, and to allow your body- joints and muscles to open into the posture.

Precautions
As with any inversion "Viparita Karani" should be avoided if you have serious eye problems, such as glaucoma. With serious neck or back problems only perform this pose with the supervision of an experienced teacher. If your feet begin to tingle during this pose, bend your knees, touch your soles together, and slide the outer edges of your feet down the wall, bringing your heels close to your pelvis.

How to Stop a Cough in Children

How to Stop a Cough in Children thumbnail
A bad cough can leave a child feeling drained.
A bad cough can be a nagging problem for a child and his parents. Not only does the child not feel well, but sleep is usually disrupted due to the cough, which can affect the whole household. Whether a cough is from a cold, flu, allergy or asthma, parents can take steps to ease the child's cough and help him feel better.

Instructions

  1. Easing a Child's Cough

    • 1
Steam from hot water can calm a night-time cough.
Increase the humidity of the air. Often the throat is irritated by dry air, so parents can invest in a humidifier to place in the child's bedroom to raise the humidity level. For a barking cough during the night that won't stop, WebMD (in "Coughs - Home Treatment") suggests taking the child into the bathroom and running the hot water to create a steamy environment. Keep the child away from the hot water to prevent burns.
    • 2
Raising a child's head with another pillow can alleviate a cough.
Raise the head of the bed. For a cold or allergies, children often have a post-nasal drip that results in an aggravating tickle in the back of the throat. While this doesn't usually result in a terrible cough, it is irritating enough to bother the child. You can ease this by elevating the child's head slightly. Raise the head of the mattress with some books between the mattress and box spring, or simply slide another pillow under the one the child usually uses.
    • 3
Small sips of cool water will soothe an irritated throat.
Keep a cool drink handy. A stainless steel water bottle filled with some cool water will allow the child to take frequent drinks. According to Kids Health in "Your Child's Cough," not only will this help soothe the throat and quiet a cough, but it will also help keep her hydrated, which will ultimately lead to a quicker recovery.
    • 4
A teaspoon of honey coats the throat and quiets a cough.
Give a teaspoon of honey. Fox News reported that a "Teaspoon of Honey Works Better for Children Than Cough Medicine." For parents who want to avoid using medication unless absolutely necessary, this study showed that when some children were given an over-the-counter cough medicine, and others a teaspoon of honey, the children who took the honey saw more improvement in cough symptoms. Do not give honey to children under one year old, due to immature immune systems.
    • 5
Call the doctor if a cough doesn't improve.
Call the doctor for a cough that continues to persist. While coughs typically go away after a short time, those that continue on need to be checked out. Occasionally more serious conditions such as pneumonia, pertussis (whooping cough), or asthma are causing the cough. Doctors may also recommend over-the-counter medications that can help alleviate other symptoms related to the cough. An expectorant for chest congestion, or a nasal decongestant may help, but a doctor should see children regarding dosaging information.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cough drops may help a child, but parents should not give them to children under 3, who could choke on them. Many schools will not allow cough drops, so check school policies before sending them with your child.
  • If you use an over-the-counter medication, read all ingredients. Multi-symptom cold medicine often treats cough, nasal congestion and fever, so make sure you aren't duplicating and over-medicating a child.

Fountain of Youth or 5 Tibetan Energy Rejuvenation Rites

We've been practicing, teaching and recommending the 5 Tibetan Energy Rejuvenation Exercises since 1998. You can do the whole routine in 15 minutes and only need enough floor space for your body while laying down and enough air space for your arms to be outstretched.
Traditional Tibetan Prostrations: Also represent a Sacred Rite of Passage
The 5 Tibetans represent a great way to keep your body in shape when you have limited time for a physical workout or limited space for a complete yoga routine. You can easily do the exercises in the space at the foot of the bed in most hotel rooms. We use the 5 Tibetans as a warm up for our morning yoga or body workout.
How do I begin to benefit from the 5 Tibetans?
If you are not used to exercise or have not been formally introduced to yoga techniques of breathing and relaxation, then your first tip is to start out slowly. Start by performing one to three repetitions of each of the movements one time each day. Pay attention to what your body is telling you and do not strain or force any position that causes pain that indicates possible injury. A little soreness is perfectly okay but really you should start out slow enough not to have any physical hindrances the following day.
Where should I perform the Tibetans?
Anywhere you have room is perfectly okay. Make sure to use a carpet, towel, yoga mat or padding to prevent discomfort caused from too hard a surface.
What is the best time of day to perform the 5 Tibetan?
The entire series of movements may be performed 2 to 3 times per day. As with all forms of holistic body work, sunrise and sunset are great times to be honoring your body with physical work. These are the best times to start your practice, but you may work them into your schedule as you see fit.
How many time should I repeat each exercise?
You want to work toward performing each of the movements 21 times. When you first begin, try to do 1 or 3 repetitions of each exercise. After a week, try to do 3 repetitions, then pause and try 3 more. You will certainly feel stronger in some of the movements than others. If you have trouble performing a complete set of 21, try to break it down into 3 sets of 7 repetitions with a pause between each set. Once you've achieved 21 repetitions of each exercise, you don't need to go on to more repetitions. These exercises are for restoring energy, not necessarily building strength. If you feel great after doing 21 repetitions of each movement, feel free to add another session later in the day to perform another set of 21 repetitions each.
What is the recommend breathing pattern?
We recommend a specific breathing pattern to follow with each exercise. If you feel tired or light headed while performing these movements, make sure you are not holding your breath.

Tibetan Rejuvenation Exercise Movement #1

Sufi Whirling, Whirling Dervish, Memories of the Grateful Dead in Concert, Having fun like a 3 year old
Rite 1: Stand upright, extend your arms at shoulder level away from your body and spin clockwise (if looking at a clock face on the floor). Keep your eyes looking directly in front of you, do not focus on any one point, let your vision blur as you spin. Turn up to 21 times or until you feel unstable or dizzy.
Breathing: breath in and out of your stomach. An opera singer, stage actor/actress or yogi experiences the benefit of breathing from this point of the body. When you stop spinning, breath even more deeply from your stomach until your head stops spinning and your balance returns to normal.
Tips and Recommendations: Work your way up to 21 spins. Speed is not so important, just try to spin 21 times and stop.

Tibetan Rejuvenation Exercise Movement #2

Leg Raises, Bending at the Waist, Tummy Tucks
Rite 2: Lay down on your back with your arms to your side, palms up, keep your legs straight, begin your inhalation, raise your legs off the ground until as high as possible and pick your head off the ground, bending your neck with your chin falling toward your chest. Begin your exhalation and return to laying flat on the ground. Repeat up to 21 times.
Breath In: Raising your legs and head
Breath Out: Lowering your legs and head
Tips and Recommendations: When starting out, bend your legs until your stomach strengthens. If your feel discomfort, place your hands (palms facing down) under your buttocks to support your lower spine. As you progress, straighten your legs and try to raise and lower them at the same speed. Once you have worked up to 21 repetitions, try to move at a nice steady rhythm without stopping.

Tibetan Rejuvenation Exercise Movement #3

Morning Neck Warm-up, Hotel Pillow Recovery Posture, Camel Asana in Yoga
Rite 3: Kneel with your legs together, arms extended, palms of your hands on the side of your thighs, drop your chin to your chest, begin your inhalation, raise your head and lean back, move your hands to the back of your thighs and let them drop lower and support your weight, crane your head and neck backward, relax your lower spine. Begin your exhalation, start to come forward back to kneeling position with your head back up in the straight position. Repeat up to 21 times.
Breath In: Going backward
Breath Out: Coming forward
Tips and Recommendations: When you start this exercise, use the weight of your head to come forward instead of forcing your chin to your chest with your muscles. When you lean back, avoid craning your neck, simply let it drop with its own weight. Eventually, you can bring your shoulder blades towards each other when you're in the back position. Keep a steady movement while going backward and forward. Keep your eyes open to maintain balance. Later, try the movement with your eyes closed to feel the difference and see if you can relax even more in the backward position.

Tibetan Rejuvenation Exercise Movement #4

Table Posture, Wrist warm-up and Neck agility
Rite 4: Sit on the floor, legs a little less than shoulder width apart, arms to your sides with hands extended flat on the ground and fingers pointed forward, drop your head toward your chest, begin your inhalation, raise your buttocks off the ground while bending your knees, shift your weight to your arms/hands and legs/feet, continue to raise your buttocks until your trunck and thighs are parallel to the ground, let your head fall back. Begin your exhalation and return to sitting position with your head dropped forward. Repeat up to 21 times.
Breath In: Raising off the ground
Breath Out: Returning back to sitting position
Tips and Recommendations: When you begin this exercise, just try to get from the starting to ending posture. It's easier to do it than read about it. In the beginning, you might not be used to your body weight on your wrists. Doing some wrist warm-ups before you begin can prevent discomfort. Once you have worked your way up to 21 repetitions, try to perform the movements without stopping.

Tibetan Rejuvenation Exercise Movement #5

Inverted-V, Yoga Cobra to Downward Dog
Rite 5: Get down on the floor on your hands and knees (in push-up position) with hands and legs a little less than shoulder width apart. Begin your inhalation, come up on your toes with weight in your arms, straighten your legs, arch your back, lean your head back, do not let any of your body touch the ground except for your toes and hands (Cobra in Yoga). Begin your exhalation, bend at the waist, bend your knees, push your buttocks up into the air, make an inverted V shape with your legs and arms straight, tuck your chin toward your chest (Downward Dog in Yoga), try to put your feet flat on the ground. Begin your next inhalation and repeat up to 21 times.
Breath In: Raising hips up into an ^ shape - downward dog.
Breath Out: Hips down & head coming up into cobra.
Tips and Recommendations: In the beginning, you will need to find where to place your hands and feet to make a complete inverted-V shape. You may do this exercise for years and never get your feet flat on the ground (a symptom of western living and always sitting in a chair). Once you've worked your way up to 21 repetitions, work on keeping a steady rhythm while going in and out of each position.

Finishing Posture Recommendation
After Exercise 5, lay flat on your stomach with your arms stretched out from side to side like Christ position. Keep your chin on the ground and close your eyes. Feel you heart pumping and blood circulating through your body. Wait until your hearth beat and breath returns to normal. Turn your head to once side and take a few deep breaths. Relax for 1 minute.
Begin your day or continue with your morning yoga routine or physical work out. You should have more than enough energy to get you jump started. If you perform the 5 Tibetans before bed , make sure you have 30 or 45 minutes to relax after Rejuvenation your energy. I've spent time laying in bed afterward and felt like I had drank a pot of coffee.

DARK SPOTS ON BANANA or ANTI CANCER PROPERTY OF OVER RIPE BANANAS.

Dark spots on Banana - Very good info

When we were young, we were told told that
bananas with dark patches were the preferred
variety. Guess science is only discovering now
what grandma knew a hundred years ago.

THE BANANAS with dark patches on yellow skin - Anti Deadly Cancer !
I Never knew this!

BANANAS with dark patches on yellow skin

The fully ripe banana produces a
substance called TNF which has the
ability to combat abnormal cells.   So don't
be surprised very soon the shop will go
out of stock for   bananas.   As the banana
ripens, it develops dark spots or patches
on the skin. The   more dark patches it
has, the higher will be its' immunity
enhancement quality .   Hence the
Japanese love bananas for a good
reason.   According to a Japanese
scientific research, banana contains TNF
which has anti-cancer properties.
The degree of anti-cancer effect
corresponds to the degree of ripeness of
the fruit, i.e., the riper the banana, the
better the anti-cancer quality.
In an animal experiment carried out by a
professor in Tokyo U comparing the
various health benefits of different
fruits, using banana, grape, apple, water
melon, pineapple, pear and persimmon,
it was found that banana gave the best
results. It increased the number of white
blood cells, enhanced the immunity of
the body and produced anti-cancer
substance TNF.   The recommendation is
to eat 1 to 2 banana a day to increase
your body immunity to diseases like cold,
flu and others.
According to the Japanese professor,
yellow skin bananas with dark spots on it
are 8 times more effective in enhancing
the property of white blood cells than the
green skin version.

The Cure For All Diseases

Dr Clark - harassed and arrested for sharing information...

The Cure for All Diseases Book Review

Most of us are pretty aware that sooner or later some disease or another will strike us down and that will be the end. However, when this happens to soon in life, it can be devastating, and the truth is that modern medicine doesn’t make healing much easier. In many cases, people find that medicine’s “cure” for their problem is worth than the problem itself. That is why there is a unique book that was written more than fifteen years ago, “The Cure for All Diseases”, and it continues to sell copies all over the world.
What Is the Cure for All Diseases Book All About?
This book was written by Dr. Hulda Regehr Clark, Ph.D., N.D., as a legitimate “cure all” for diseases in general. It should be said at the start of this Cure for All Diseases book review that although Dr. Clark was a doctor, she was not a medical doctor and that is one of the reasons why some people fail to believe much of what she wrote about.
That being said, Dr. Clark had some very innovative ideas when it came to solving various diseases and ailments that were very different from what the medical profession was doing at the time and continues to do. Her background was in biology, physiology, and biophysics, and her overall theory was that foreign toxins that invade the body are responsible for the growth of disease in general.
What Is the Electronic Technique for Scanning the Human Body?
When you read any Cure for All Diseases review, you will see mention of the fact that Dr. Clark’s theory also had a lot to do with radio frequencies. Her belief was that each organism in this world emits a particular frequency and by adjusting that frequency and listening to it, you could find out the real core of a person’s ailment. Only by determining why they are sick can you actually treat the problem.
She developed a method of electronic scanning of the human body as far back as the 1980’s, and was able to analyze the radio frequencies of a person’s scan, to determine if they had a virus, bacteria, or some type of fungus or parasite causing their health issues.
Where Can You Get a Free Copy of the “Cure for All Diseases” Book?
If you go to your local book store to find a copy of the Cure for All Diseases Book, you probably won’t find it, but you can get a free copy of it online right now. This book has been used by millions of healers and patients all over the world and there is a lot of evidence that much of what it says is true. If you find yourself or a loved one suffering from an ailment or more serious disease, then it can’t help but try some of the methods and techniques that are in this book to determine if you can treat the problem naturally. Of course, you should never put off legitimate medical care while you are doing this, but many of the recommendations in this book will work in conjunction as complementary therapies to traditional healthcare.

Click Here To Get Your Copy Free

Is This a Good Choice?
When something is free, it is rare that it isn’t a good choice and now that you can get the Cure for All Diseases Book at no cost, it is more than worth the effort to order it and sit down and read it. No matter what kind of health problem you are facing, chances are that you will find a solution or some interesting methods to help you deal with it naturally.

The Cure For All Cancers

Dr Clark - harassed and arrested for sharing information...

New research findings show there is a single
cause for all cancers.
Including Over 100 Case
Histories of Persons Cured Plus two revolutionary electronic circuits,
one to diagnose and monitor progress,
the other to zap parasites and bacteria!

For many years we have all believed that cancer is different
from other diseases.2 We believed that cancer behaves like a
fire, in that you can't stop it once it has started. Therefore, you
have to cut it out or radiate it to death or chemically destroy
every cancerous cell in the body since it can never become
normal again. NOTHING COULD BE MORE WRONG!
And we have believed that cancers of different types such as
leukemia or breast cancer have different causes. Wrong again!

Cancer could be eradicated in a
very short time by clearing our food animals and household pets
of fluke parasites and by monitoring all food and feed for solvents.
Stopping consumption of mycotoxins and ceasing exposure
to copper, cobalt and vanadium is essential for tumor
regression.

Clearly, you must do 3 things:
1. Kill the parasite and all its stages.
2. Stop letting isopropyl alcohol into your body.
3. Flush out the metals, common toxins, and bacteria from
your body so you can get well.

Hulda Regehr Clark, Ph.D.,N.D.

Cancer can now be CURED, not just treated
We are not accustomed to thinking about a cure for cancer.
We think of remission as the only possibility. But this book is
not about remission. It is about a cure. This is possible because
in 1990 I discovered the true cause of cancer. The cause is a
certain parasite, for which I have found evidence in every cancer
case regardless of the type of cancer. So lung cancer is not
caused by smoking, colon cancer is not caused by a lowroughage
diet, breast cancer is not caused by a fatty diet, retinal
blastoma is not caused by a rare gene, and pancreatic cancer is
not caused by alcohol consumption. Although these are all contributing
factors, they are not THE cause. Once the true cause
was found the cure became obvious. But would it work? I set a
goal of 100 cases to be cured of cancer before publishing my
findings. That mark was passed in December, 1992. The discovery
of the cause and cure of all cancers has stood the test of
time and here it is!

 Hulda Regehr Clark, Ph.D.,N.D.

This PDF format book provides exact
instructions for their cure.

In this book you will see that all cancers are alike. They are
all caused by a parasite. A single parasite! It is the human intestinal
fluke. And if you kill this parasite, the cancer stops immediately.
The tissue becomes normal again. In order to get
cancer, you must have this parasite.
